Marymount College

The following is a listing of courses that can be used to meet requirements in Occidental’s Core Program (Occidental’s general education requirements for graduation). Each course can fulfill only one Core requirement.

For graduation from Occidental students must complete the following:

Two semesters of foreign language or demonstrated proficiency,
Two English writing (composition) courses (see Occidental Course Catalog, pp. 39-40)
One course from at least three separate culture groups
(Africa-Middle East, Asia, Europe, Latin America, United States, or Intercultural),
One pre-industrial course,
One fine arts course, and
One mathematics and two science courses, or three science courses (at least one science course must be at least four semester units and have a laboratory).

Students may also fulfill the language requirement by:

1. Presentation of an appropriate SAT II language score.
2. Presentation of an Advanced Placement Exam score of 4 or 5.
3. Demonstration of proficiency in a language other than English.
